YES Aircraft Maintenance Pty Ltd, is currently completing structural work on a B737-300 Cargo aircraft at its facilities, based in Kempton Park, South Africa.
The aircraft arrived to undergo an Aft Pressure Bulkhead Chord Replacement. This repair is being completed in line with The Boeing Company in the United States of America..
On 17th February 2022, Vertical and Horizontal stabilizers were removed and the aircraft was shored as per Boeing’s specific requirements. Special shoring equipment had to be manufactured to meet this requirement.
Additional strip work/preparation was performed by the mechanical engineers to allow access for the structural engineers.
Two Boeing engineers arrived in South Africa at our facilities on 25 of February 2022, and with the assistance of Yes Aircraft Maintenance Pty Ltd Skilled Structural Engineers the required aircraft skins and lower aft chord was removed.
A special jig was manufactured by our structural engineers to transfer existing attachment bolt holes onto the new chord complying with the Boeing Service Bulletin hole criteria.
On the 15th March 2022, the new replacement Chord was installed with a perfect fit, all attachment bolts holes aligned, and chord was secured.
The Boeing engineers were satisfied with Yes Aircraft Maintenance Pty Ltd’s quality of work and returned to the USA on the 18th March 2022 allowing us to complete the rest of the repair as per the Boeing documents and SRM.
